Susan asks…

Serious question about hypnosis/lucid dreaming?

This is for people who are familiar/experienced with either hypnosis or lucid dreaming. For the past few years now, I’ve been interested in both. I’ve looked up numerous websites and forums, tried many times, and I come across the same problem – I get too excited.

Just when my mind starts to slip away, my body releases a little bit of adrenaline and I’m back to where I started (just FYI, when attempting lucid dreaming I’ve usually tried the WILD method).

Does anyone else have this problem/have any tips?
I’ve had a lucid dream before, but it was from doing a double take at the clock in my dream.

Dimethyltryptamine is made by the body while asleep and is what causes dreams, so I would assume it would make you dream while awake. That’s half the point of the WILD method – fall asleep, but stay conscious so that you know you’re dreaming.

I don’t know if you have already tried this, but there’s something called Binaural Beats that helps promote and sometimes induce lucid dreams. They are meant to be heard through headphones only and they work with your brainwaves to help you relax and lower your brainwaves. There are several samples online if you poke around a bit. In the sources, that link has a lot of good info on lucid dreaming and the Binaural Beats.
I’ve just started getting into this stuff, and I have a lot to learn but that’s what I’ve tried so far. Had some interesting results, but no actual lucid dreams to speak of yet. Have come close, but I haven’t experienced the real deal yet. But I’m hopeful! =)
Having the sound files playing really helped me relax because it keeps getting lower and lower and it’s calming, so I didn’t have the problem with getting to excited right before drifting off. Take a look around and see what kind of files you can find. But remember that they’re meant to be used with headphones only. Otherwise you don’t get the desired effect.

Good luck!

Betty asks…

What’s the best way to start Lucid Dreaming? What are some good techniques?

Hey, so I’ve just found out about the whole “lucid dreaming” concept, and it REALLY interests me. I’ve been looking up articles and sites about this all day. If you don’t know what this is, it’s basically a a way to come to a greater consciousness in your dreams, control what happens, and actually enjoy it more (not to mention actually remembering your dreams…)

So, I’m wondering – what are some good methods or techniques to use for someone who’s just starting out? It’s such a foreign concept to me, so I need some beginner’s help. What should I start doing every day / night to help me have really vivid lucid dreams?

Any help / advice is appreciated – thanks!

Binaural Beats answers:

You won’t be able to control your dream after a night and most likely not until two weeks, and you’ll have to fight to avoid triggering events that wake you up.Keep a dream journal, you’ll think “how will that help me?” well you’ll begin to wake up and fill out your dream journal on que this is important because the lucid dreams you do have you won’t remember if you don’t.

If you haven’t heard of them before look into binaural beats they help support REM sleep, repeat “i’m going to have a lucid dream before i go to bed” it’s scientifically proven that this bedtime ritual increases your chances of having a lucid dream.

Get adequate sleep, based on our biological clock’s the time your most likely to have a lucid dream is around 2:00 because thats when our “deepest” sleep is.

I wouldn’t exactly call it better or worst then a normal dream it’s a different experience, sometimes it’s better to see what your mind can contemplate rather then taking the sense of adventure out of your dreams.

Lucid dreams are amazing, you can act out fantasies that wouldn’t be otherwise possible in dreams.Lucid dreaming takes patience but once you learn how to do it you’ll be happy with the results

Daniel asks…

I want to have another Lucid dream, but I’m worried! Tips?

Okay, so I had a lucid dream awhile ago, and it was really cool, except for the fact that I was murdered in the dream. I really don’t want to have another one like that LOL, but I want to have one where I meet One Direction (yes, face palm is you want, it’s true) but, you know, a happy one. And I know you can control it, but if you think about people trying to kill you, well the dream people will. And I’m scared I won’t be able to wake up if it turns ugly. Because it was just so real, I was questioning myself last time on whether or not it was real, I don’t want to be murdered by mobsters again. How can I wake up and how do I keep it on track?

Binaural Beats answers:

As far as keep your dream “on track” you just need to focus on positive things. In a full lucid dream, you have FULL control…. Create your dreamscape as you go into it and keep it uplifting!
One of my favorite tools to help with lucid dreaming is Binaural Beats. These audio files are great to help you fall asleep, study, and many other things, and they also have ones made specifically for lucid dreaming.
Here is a good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARHR9fIIyD8&feature=plcp
The most effective way I find to lucid dream is to set my alarm for 5 to 6 hours later then when I go to bed and to sleep as normal. After my alarms go off I wake myself up completely by getting out of bed and surfing the computer for about 45 minutes. It can be fun to look at pictures of desired dreamscapes etc. After I am awake I lay back down listening to the above audio. While falling asleep I repeat the intention of lucid dreaming. I find this technique very effective.

Maria asks…

Cheers!

John asks…

Should I experience Lucid Dreaming?

?

Binaural Beats answers:

Lucid dreaming is GREAT and a way to get over having bad dreams. If you have full control over your dream, you control weather it is good or bad! :)
