Laura asks…
Please answer my question…. I’d like to get some sleep tonight.?
The explanation is a little long but please bear with it……
I am a male and for the past few days I’ve had a neck pain on the right side and a slight dull headache. I’ve also started to realize that when I lay down on my back my face gets very warm staring on the right side. An example of this is tonight I was somewhat cold and lay down to go . When I lay down and pulled the covers up in just a matter of seconds I was almost sweating! I stood up and went to the bathroom to look in the mirror. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest and in a minute or two everything was back to normal. For the most part, I still feel rather warm. I’m not sure what to do….I recently moved and am living in the basement of a house I’ve been in for 15 days but this has only been happening for the past few. It’s been keeping me from sleeping since I’ve been staying up very late from it.

If you have never tried Binaural Beats for falling asleep I would definitely give them a shot. I found out about them because I couldn’t sleep at all and they have helped me so much! They are two tones played in headphones and they work like a turning fork to entrain your brain into a sleep state.

How can I get more energy?
Okay so I’m a full time college Freshman, who is working full-time. I don’t get much sleep because of insomnia, so that limits me from drinking/ingesting too much caffeine, or I won’t sleep at ALL. I need energy to workout though. I find myself way too tired to do any sort of extra exercise. I eat right, and and not lazy, I’m always moving during the day, but when I do find time to work out, I’m exhausted and figure laying down for a little would be better. On another note, If I don’t exercise I have a harder time falling asleep, so I’m stuck in an endless cycle of sleepy! Help??

They also make sessions for HGH release which many people claim help with energy while at the gym. Here’s a good example.

Severe insomnia…ever since I was a baby?
I have had insomnia my entire life. I’m 23 and my mom has said I have been this way since infancy. When they brought me home doctors told them I’d collectively sleep 18 to 20 hours per day. My mom kept telling them I slept way less and doctors didn’t believe her they thought it just felt like less to her. She began journaling it and sure enough I slept 6 hours collectively per day. I was very fussy. By time I was in school I’d lay in bed all night staring at the ceiling until about an hour before wake up time. I’d sleep 1 hour then be groggy and dazed all day. Doctors said I must be sleeping more than we thought, and brushed it off. Here I am 23 years old, still severe insomnia. Now it’s to the point I sleep every other day, and when I do sleep it’s maybe 4 hours. Frequently when I try to sleep I burst into tears because I can’t and I’m so exhausted. Now they blame my nightshift job saying that must be it and some people just can’t handle nightshift. Actually I sleep more now, it’s helped somewhat. I tell my doctor I’m worried not only about mental affects but because insomniacs die earlier and suffer from a lot more illnesses. She brushes it off says some people just don’t sleep well. What should I do? What could be wrong with me?
I once went 4 days with not 1 second of sleep and had to be tranq’d with multiple hardcore sedatives before I finally slept.

If you have never heard of Binaural Beats or Isochronic Tones I highly recommend you look into them and give them a try.
My story is similar to yours and have had trouble getting rest for most of my life. Much of my professional career has been spent sleep on avg. 2 hours a day. My search for sleep led me Binaural Beats and I have never looked back. They are simple tones played in your ears that are made to entrain your brain into a sleep brainwave pattern, and they are very effective.

Ever hurt so bad, for so long that you just don’t want to live?
I have chronic pain from multiple back surgeries & CDH (chronic daily headaches). Now they tell me I have neck problems too. I want to sleep so bad, but my body just keeps jerking & wakes me back up. I know lack of sleep can make you crazy. I’m just so tired of fighting the pain I just want it all to be over. My doctors have given me all kinds of meds I just don’t like to take so many pills & they do very little for the pain. Any advice on how to keep going?

Sharon asks…
How to keep awake in the mornings ?
I’m really sorry if I post this in the wrong category, I’m not sure where to go but I think a lot to try and stay awake. I have a long bus to college since I started A levels and my journey takes over an hour every morning, and there are some people on the bus who really don’t like me, I’m not sure why, they sit near me though, and sitting there it’s really hard to stay awake because I have sleeping troubles and get about 4 hours sleep a day at most on college days. I get up around 6am and sleep around 2am the next day. I guess I just don’t want them to keep making fun of it, because they say I look stoned and that I fall asleep and it’s funny to them. But I don’t even realise…
I mean, sometimes I sit there and I swear I’m not asleep, but everything becomes really strange and I think I’m doing things that I’m not, because really I’m actually sat there staring into space, or sometimes I’m apparently asleep, but it’s the vagueness that’s worrying, because I lose touch with things around me on the bus a lot, I really don’t want to bother those people and give them reason to laugh at me, how can I stay awake? Biting my inner cheek doesn’t work I guess, sorry for this it is quite nonsensical
I’m really sorry if this question seems unreal, I swear it’s genuine, my GP is quite cynical unfortunately

I’m actually looking for the EXACT solution as you!
I’m an A level student too and I catch the train every morning and have to walk a bit, so it takes me almost an hour to get to college – it’s worse because of the freezing cold! You just don’t feel like getting up in the morning.
The best thing to do would be to TRY to sleep early – I know that’s pretty silly, but get all your work done before 9 or 10, that way you could get to sleep on time and even if it took you a while to fall asleep (about 12-ish), you could still get 6-7 hours of sleep.
I’m one to talk, I leave my work until about 9-10, and then procrastinate and by the time I finish, it’s about 2am and I regret it in the morning when I wake up at 7.
This might sound a little strange, but try binaural beats. If you have an iPod, use a YouTube converter to download some of the ones which people say work (read the comments and views and whatnot) and just listen to them. Not joking, they worked a lot of times for me. There are revision and relaxation ones too which I used during exam time. You’ll need headphones for them because the frequencies coming out of each headphone are different so when you listen to them both together, they merge and something happens in your brain.
It works. I recommend it.
Hmmm…what else?
Make yourself some cold coffee the night before. Literally, just heat up about 2-3 tablespoons of milk in a cup, add Nescafe Original (seriously, that’s the only coffee that tastes normal), sugar to taste, fill the cup with cold milk, set it aside in the fridge and when you wake up, just drink that! It’s cold which means it’s refreshing and it’s got caffeine so it’s an obvious boost for a few hours.
The very first thing you should do when you wake up is splash your face with really cold water – it’s only a temporary boost, but hopefully it should make you remember that you have cold coffee downstairs and give you the energy to make some breakfast or something.
I really don’t know what else I can recommend to be honest – I was Googling ‘How to stay awake’ and then found your question.
Hope it helped either way. A levels suck, as far as I’m concerned. Good luck with your exams and wish me luck with mine too!
