John asks…

What is the most powerful meditation?

First let me explain what I know and that will lead up to what I want to know.

I’m aware that there are tons of meditations and have different goals. The one’s I have tried are:
(all of which are in a sitting position with spine erect, recently I got a meditation bench and I love it,it’s the best!!)

- Plain Meditation [mindfulness]
( Basically you observe your breath and leave you focusness wandering and observing thoughts, you keep coming back to the breath when getting caught up in thoughts, in other words when your observation point becomes interaction point then you must return your attention to the breath)
P.S. It is great to clear your mind a little and you might come to some good realisations throught that meditation but that’s about it, no higher state of consciousness or astral projection as I thought it could deliver after viewing the intro video on youtube :

- Kundalini Awakening (by Krishna Raj – Chakra Dhyana)
I have done this several times, really saying out loud the mantras. It is beautiful to listen to it and be a part of it.But nah, nothing extraordinary happening.Haven’t felt no Kundalini.I’ve done this meditation at least 10 times.I read a lot that it is dangerous to mess around with your Kundalini if you aren’t ready.Nothing happened at all.I felt relaxed alright.

- Binaural Beats
I have tried Alpha,Delta, Theta, different kinds, from 15 mins to 45. With headphones of course. What I did pretty much is a combination of plain meditation with binaural beats. What I noticed is that I had faster settle in the meditative state [well if you could call it that] of the plain meditation with 15 mins of binaural beats, after 15 mins the sound goes off and I am continuing my plain meditation in silence. As I said the same as the very 1st meditation but quicker settle in. No deep states as promised, no astral travel.
p.s. Tried it at least 10 times,I’m not saying it isn’t enjoyable only that it isn’t in the league as it promises or just it doesn’t work for me.

- 7 Centers Breathing
This is relatively unknown meditation, it consists of 45 mins of vigorous breathing into each chakra in 3 cycles of 15 mins.So far this meditation is THE BEST but it is hard work and definitely isn’t a daily one, rather more like weekly. Thanks to this meditation I started being aware of my chakras and really started feeling emotions in different parts of body. And also after the 45 mins cycle,I was in thoughtless state,it felt as if I (I means awareness not my body) was in a dark quiet room, lovely and comfortable, and this quiet room was in my head, you could say it was in the 3rd eye area inside my head, like reserved space, and I could see a purple colour in a wave like shape kinda moving about. It was interesting
I haven’t had such state with any other meditation.

- Lam,Vam,Ram,Yam,Ham,Om
I tried these mantras a few times, just to activate the chakras a little. Didn’t find it effective at all to be honest.

Now….I am no expert and might have made mistakes in my meditations that’s why I’m here, seeking advice from the more experienced. What is a power technique that will get me in deep meditative states, I mean really deep, after reading my question you should know what I mean by that. I want to reach to higher consciusness. Also some people say they can travel in the space and talk to avatars and ET beings, how do I get that kinda states?

Thank you.
@Mutley I’ve had LSD lots of times! It’s not the way. It alters your consciousness much more than meditation, yes! but in a chaotic and erratic way!

Binaural Beats answers:

They say that if you think of the mind as a glass of water, the only way to stop the ripples of mental activity is to put the glass down. I think that would mean making some effort to quiet the mind and let it settle, and then see what happens. Not with a lot of force and control, but with easy, persistent effort towards letting go of thoughts, feelings, sensations, and the need to control them, and instead just letting them be until they come to rest on their own. When all that activity and striving comes to rest, then they say you start to have good meditation. Otherwise, it can be just another kind of thinking, chasing after thoughts, and being agitated by all the mental activity.

There was one time years ago that I sort of forgot I was meditating and something very strange happened, which was my sense of location in the universe suddenly started to disappear and there was just space. It was pretty unsettling and I snapped out of it, but that was many years before I had read anything about meditation outside karate books. The object I was using was the ‘hara’ as they do in Zen, and breathing into it, but also visualizing a ball of light there. These days my meditation is pretty poor, but that’s mainly due to lack of effort. But you seem to have plenty of motivation.

The object of meditation is just the thing you concentrate on, or keep your awareness on. Some teachers say to use the breath at the nostrils as the object, some say the breath in the chest or abdomen, some say the whole process. If you try different objects, you see they each have a slightly different quality, for instance, at the nostrils you have more awareness of the place where your mind seems to be, which is of course, right there in your head. Using the whole process of breathing seems to be easier to keep at first, until the mind settles some and then I’ll start using the hara, which seems to anchor and focus my mind better and more pointedly than other things, like the nostrils. But it seems to me from what little I gather, that the specific object is of secondary importance, same with the physical position. However, sitting up straight does help to keep a focus and remind you of what you’re doing. I couldn’t say much about the visualization meditations or mantras because I don’t really practice that type.

Steven asks…

Have I fked up my own life now?

I played and listened to a Binaural beats video yesterday on youtube wid headphones on. After listening to it all, it said tha some subliminal messages have been transfered to my subconscious mind such as “You are a genius, super human, you can do anything” etc. This worked and today I m being increasingly focused on my work and working with more determination and dedication, but it’s becoming too stressful for me now and I just can’t stop. For me happiness in life counts more dan money or success, but the subconscious subliminal message has fucked me up for the day. Have I fucked myself for the entire lifes now? Please reply, as I m very tensed. Don’t wanna be such a workaholic & painful genius in my life.

Also can you like read and stuff while listening to the ones to help you learn or should you read after listening?

Any extra info on these would be appreciated…

Ruth asks…

some yoga tips or meditation tips ?

please give me some yoga or meditation tips for my mind concentration.

Binaural Beats answers:

Hello,

In response to your question:

I’ve been meditating with binaural beats technology for about 2,5 years now and I have to say that the results are very satisfying.

Is it easy? Not necessarily. If you overdose your listening session and do 2 hours instead of 1 hour as recommended you may run into a huge upheaval and then it is not easy… Everything kicks in, all the stuff. For that reason it’s good to adhere to the instructions., especially in the beginning when you don’t have a clue how you’re going to respond to this technology.

You don’t have focus on anything using it, the technology focuses your brain for you — and in this aspect it’s easy…

Charles asks…

I need to raise my grades? Motivation help?

My whole life I have never got anything lower than a A-, until I hit the 8th grade. I know find myself focusing more on friends and trying to fit in. My grades are slipping, I have no A’s. They range from B’s to D’s. I find it so hard to focus and absorb information now. How can I motivate myself to sit done and actually do my homework instead of spending all night trying to find ways out of it? How can I stop my procrastinating?

Binaural Beats answers:

The first step is to get off yahoo answers, this is only a method of distracting you. If you have a facebook, don’t go on that either. Minimize any possible distractions, especially the internet.
If you’re in front of your computer, try playing this

http://www.i-dose.us/dose/en/20/ADD+ADHD/1/0/

or download this

http://www.mentallion.com/brainwave_entrainment/binaural_beats/add-2100

or maybe this

set a time everyday for work, and actually get shit done during the time period. It’s important to fix your procrastination problems now because if you get into the habit of doing it things only get worse.
